Apartment 14, Loch Rannoch Highland Club

Superb location at Loch Rannoch Positive: We stayed in a self-catering Apartment in the Loch Rannoch Highland Club. The village of Kinloch Rannoch is quite remote, so a car is advised (the Rannoch train station is a 30 minute drive away, but is home to the West Highland Line, voted most scenic train journey in the world). Restaurants, pubs and a small grocery store are within walking distance. The apartment itself is well equipped, has a small kitchen and a parking space for your car. There is a closed balcony, with view of the lake. Negative: A clothesline or a drying rack would have been nice, to dry your clothes after the Scottish weather.

Book it you love the smell of BLEACH Negative: I have never left a negative review before, but this stay warranted one. We booked this apartment for our honeymoon and were really looking forward to it. Unfortunately, two things made the stay genuinely stressful. CHECK-IN. We were told we would receive instructions by email around 5pm explaining how to access the apartment. Nothing arrived. I checked my inbox and spam folder repeatedly, as well as the Booking messages, and there was nothing. We called, no one answered. We emailed, no reply. We eventually contacted Booking.com directly, because with no access instructions we realistically had nowhere to sleep that night. After we arrived, we did find an instructions message in the Booking chat, sent as a message rather than the promised email. It was not visible to us earlier despite repeated checking, so I assume something went wrong on the delivery side while we were travelling. That part I can accept as bad luck. What I cannot accept is that we spent hours calling and emailing with no response at all. We had informed the property in advance that we would arrive at 7pm, after the 5pm reception closing time. We went to the reception anyway and found a lovely lady there who helped us straight away. Someone was working the whole time, yet not one of our calls or emails was answered. A single reply would have prevented hours of unnecessary stress on our honeymoon. THE APARTMENT. The smell of bleach was overwhelming, to the point that it was genuinely unpleasant to be inside. We opened every window and aired the place out for hours, but the bathroom still smelled so strong that we ended up brushing our teeth in the kitchen sink. We went out for dinner at a nearby hotel and my heart sank at the thought of going back. The staff we actually met in person were kind, and the location was convenient. But the communication around check-in and the state of the apartment on arrival meant the first night of our honeymoon was spent stressed rather than relaxed.

Behagliches sehr großzügiges Appartement direkt am Wasser Positive: Sehr großzügiges Appartement direkt am Loch rannoch, mit Blick auf Wasser und Berge. Eigener Parkplatz. Küche super ausgestattet. Insgesamt etwas in die Jahre gekommen, aber super behaglich alles. Wirklich nice!
