It was convenient to the Orienteering competitions, i wouldn’thave chosen to stay otherwise.
Positive: I was attending the JK Orienteering competition so it was conveniently located
The heating was great
Too great sometimes and we had to turn it off at night
Negative: The mice!
We had a loaf of bread attacked by mice who decimated it and left droppings everywhere
I reported it to the receptionist and she shrugged and said it was normal as they are located on the side of a hill. They said they would report it to the maintenance team. I asked what they would do and they said they would lay traps etc. They didn’t think anything of it and showed no shock, empathy or concern that the mice were defecating in the flat and eating food, and causing dirt and discomfort for guests.
I said that i felt they weren’t taking issue seriously and they said there was nothing they could do. I asked if i could speak to the manager and they said they would ask hime to get in touch. The receptionist later phoned and said they could move us to a different apartment. This was inconvenient but as we were very uncomfortable with the threat of mice and dead ones in traps we decided to move. There was no apology, no follow up to see how we were getting on. A real lack of customer care and service. The stairwells and corridors of the flats were dirty and uncared for. It snowed and the open corridors iced over and there was no salt or grit provided to make them safe so we had to walk carefully on the slippy surface. It is also important to note that the Appartments and the Hotel are two separate businesses. You would think there are synergies between them but this is not the case. There is a lack of coordination between the hotel and the appartments. When we asked if we could use the hotel swimming pool, we were told we would have to pay £120 for the 3 days we were there to the hotel. It was an outrageous cost. They explained it was to deter the apartment residents from using the pool!
